Small Web July - 02
As we approach the end of the third week of July, here is how I have been doing in terms of minimising the time spent in the corporate web:
Offline
- Journaling. I have been able to do this every day so far. I am quite happy about it, because I remember how in the past it really helped me understand more about myself and work on my happiness. Especially at the end of the year when I re-read my notes.
- Exercising. I have skipped running this week (work is really demanding and I feel exhausted). I have kept up with my HIIT and body-weight workouts in the morning though, so that is good.
- Meditation and Yoga. Since I have been sleeping quite badly, I have recently started doing a little bit of meditation and Yoga every evening. So far it seems to at least be lowering my heart rate.
- Reading. I have been reading every day for months now. One chapter per day.
On my phone / computer
- Social interactions. These happen mostly through messages to friends and family, and on Gemini and Mastodon. My Gemini and Mastodon interactions are quite lovely: very slow paced. Sometimes quite light, sometimes a bit deeper.
- Games. I play Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, water some digital plants on Gemini, and I am watching my friend (ex partner) play Death Stranding 2. I like Animal Crossing because it is quite slow paced and doesn't push you to play too long. Death Stranding 2 is excellent.
- Doom-scrolling. Even after installing a CLI script to post to BSKY, I have not been able to get out of the bad habit of spending a long time scrolling.
Outside from the doom-scrolling, I think I have been doing OK.
Since work has been so intense recently and my brain is absolutely tired by the end of the day, it is very hard for me to use the web and social websites in a "active" way: I don't have anything interesting going on that I can post about.
I am looking forward to some time off to recharge my brain and see if I can get my creativity back (though I have been in a burnout state for quite a while now, and I don't know if I can recover so easily).
